Lost Beauties
Lost Beauties e.V.

Lost Beauties is an association of collectors of Old Roses. It's objective is the location and conservation of lost or nearly lost Historic Roses in order to preserve them.

LB is therefore in keeping with the 1992 Rio de Janeiro Environmental Summit Conference,
It is legaly approved by the German authorities and registered as an ecological usefull association.

It's aimed to be a kind of network between collectors, experts, associations and specialized nurseries for the exchange of knowledge, the spreading of rose varieties
and the propagating of an increased interest of gardeners in Old Roses.

LB is not aimed to become a big association with hundreds or thousands of members, but will stay small and flexible. The total number of members is limitated therefore.

All work is organized private to minimalize organisation costs and based only on personal engagement of the members.

LB will work together with similarly engaged organizations as well as with single persons,
membership is not necessary for cooperation.

LB's concept is: "Rose first, rose lovers second".
Rare Roses shouldn't be exclusive treasures but cultural property and should be available for everyone who loves them.

LB is striving to rediscover and identify Old Roses. Experts advise is necessary for the latter and it will be helpfull to connect as many experts knowledge as possible therefore.

To ensure the survival of rare species and hybrids needs their availability: Only varieties which are spread around different countries and as many gardens as possible are safe from
being forgotten and lost.

Availability needs nurseries for propagation and public interest.
LB is working together with some specialized nurseries which are engaged and interested in propagating rare historic varieties. Some competent single members are able to multiplicate and propagate rare roses additionally.
Increased public interest for these varieties can be reached by different ways:
1. Taking part in international rose and garden forums
2. Opening private rose gardens for the public ( at special "days of open rose gardens" like in Labenz, during the whole summer like in Karben or opening by appointment)
3. Arranging seminars and meetings
4. Supporting and initializing public rose gardens with Old roses of the respective regions.

No one is able to know everything, it's important to connect special interests, special knowledges and special capacibilities therefore. If you like to join the network, please
